Bye Bye San Francisco and Thank you
23 juli 2015 - San Francisco, California, Verenigde Staten
The last day has finally come, tomorrow we officially split ways and head home. These past 4 weeks have been incredible, and by the lack of Dutch, you can probably tell this blog has been hijacked by the American. Fortunately, and maybe its pure coincidence, our last day in San Fran was filled with blue skies and only a minimum amount of homeless people. Vincent was determined to get a haircut on his last day in the Golden Gate city so we stopped at an authentic barbershop right off Union Square, most likely comparable to Schorem in Rotterdam (except girls were allowed or else I wouldn’t have gotten his picture!) After patiently waiting for Vincent to finish up his pampering, we decided to make a quick stop at the A1 Café off of Ocean Avenue for a small dim sum lunch. It would have been completely un-American to leave without eating in Chinatown at least once, and exploring the sights (and smells) of Chinatown made us all realize we had enough of China to last us for a lifetime! We then headed out for one last glance at the windy waters of the Pacific ocean at Fisherman’s Wharf. On the journey back, we were easily swayed into Swensen's Ice Cream Store at the suggestion of a passerby; walking up all those hills makes you hungry! We finally finished off with a lovely dinner at an absolutely incredible Japanese restaurant called Pabu located within the financial district, and it was probably the best Japanese food I’ve had in my life. Today couldn’t have been a day better spent.
On a side note, I just want to say thank you to the Farlake Clan for allowing me to ride along with them on their road trip though the West coast and being able to explore my own country. I really enjoyed the time I spent with my Dutch family and I hope you all have had as much of an unforgettable experience as I can say I have had. Love you all, and until next time!
